Devastation Rating
post-apocalypse father survival love
Our Take
A man and a boy walk south through a dead America, carrying the fire. McCarthy strips language to ash and bone and still breaks you open. The love between father and son is the only warmth left in the novel. The ending gives you something and you are not sure whether to be grateful for it.
